Before you start your medical billing business be sure you know HIPPA and are able to follow the guidelines.

Information that is protected under HIPPA

• Patients name
• Demographics
• Diagnosis and history
• Procedures performed
• Medications prescribed

If your billing business is at home the physician is going to need to know how your are going to keep this information safe from theft, fire and natural disaster.  Your client is ultimatley responsible for maintaining privacy.  When they outsource to a company, they need to know the information cannot be accessed by anyone else and this includes spouses and children and by a mistake their office and livelihood is in jeopardy.
